State conservation officers on Thursday arrested a Spirit Lake man accused of driving a 28-foot vessel that collided with another boat on West Okoboji Lake Tuesday, injuring another man, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources reported.

Zachery Kruse, 20, of Spirit Lake, is accused of leaving the scene after the collision, which left Vaughn Wickman of Spirit Lake with serious injuries in the other boat. DNR officers said Kruse on Thursday admitted he was involved in the incident.

Kruse was charged with failing to give aid in a vessel resulting in a serious injury, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Officers found the boat Kruse had driven in a hoist at the north end of West Okoboji Lake, noting damage consistent with hitting the other boat from behind. They got a search warrant and seized the boat.
