Hy-Vee is limiting customers’ meat purchases starting on Wednesday, according to a news release.

As meatpacking plants close and suspend operations, Hy-Vee is limiting customer purchases to a combination of four packages of fresh beef, ground beef, pork and chicken.

The limit is in response to worker shortages at plants, as well as an increase in meat sales, according to the release.

Other retailers, including Costco, have also implemented similar measures, due to disruptions in the meat supply chain.
