Gov. Kim Reynolds announced she has invited all of the Republican presidential candidates to join her in one-on-one conversations at the Iowa State Fair.

Fair Side Chats will take place throughout the fair, Aug. 10-20, with interviews that will “go beyond just the issues of a presidential campaign and allow fairgoers to see who the candidates really are,” according to a news release from Reynolds’ campaign.

“I couldn’t be more excited to host the Presidential Candidates at our world-class Iowa State Fair, showcasing all we have to offer,” Reynolds said in the news release. “These one-on-one ‘Fair-Side Chats’ offer the candidates an incredible opportunity to share their message directly with Iowans. With just six months to go until the Iowa Caucus, it’s crunch time!”

Reynolds said every candidate has been invited, including former President Donald Trump.

Trump criticized Reynolds on Truth Social last week for not endorsing a candidate, and claimed he does not invite her to events.

Reynolds most recently appeared at an event Friday, where six White House hopefuls faced a crowd of 2,000 evangelical Christians in Des Moines.

Reynolds has appeared alongside many of the candidates, and this series will be another chance for fairgoers and caucus attendees to pick out their favorite candidates. She attended a Trump rally in Davenport in March, his first Iowa visit after officially announcing his 2024 candidacy.

A more detailed schedule for the interviews, including attendees, will be announced at a later date.

Presidential candidates have been traveling Iowa at a high frequency since the field has filled. And while it has not been announced which candidates will join the Fair Side Chats, with the previous two Iowa State Fairs hosting more than 1 million attendees, it will be an opportunity for the candidates to see countless Iowans face to face.

The interviews will take place at JR’s South Pork Ranch and will be open to fairgoers.
